Teacher

Marina - ganzheitliche Physiotherapeutin

Marina is a holistic physiotherapist, certified yoga teacher and partner acrobatics trainer. She experienced Acro Yoga for the first time in Thailand in 2009 and has been enthusiastic about the diverse practice ever since. In addition to her yoga studio in Bad Saulgau, she now mainly travels throughout Germany as a speaker and trainer and teaches yoga & acrobatics / acro yoga with a lot of joy and heart.

Franca - Poledance Instructor
Franca is an osteopath and pole dance instructor from the Allgäu region. She came across pole dance and partner acrobatics during her osteopathy studies and founded her own pole dance studio “PoleBuddies” in Kißlegg in 2020. The holistic combination of osteopathy and training has become indispensable to her and is the perfect mix for healthy, sustainable training. She feels at home upside down, so the versatility of acro yoga – basing, flying, connecting and accompanying others – is naturally also part of her routine.
Monika - Artistin
Monika, is an artist, yoga teacher and mother. She lives a colorful circus life between gym, studio and stage, deeply rooted in the Allgäu and at home all over the world. Aerial, Acrobatics/ Acro Yoga and Hula Hoop are her particular strengths. In addition to her shows, she is keen to share her love of circus and movement arts with anyone interested. Monika’s classes are characterized by mindfulness with one’s own body, mind and the group, as well as creating a safe space on all levels. She leads circus projects in schools (DE, CH & A) and teaches children and adults worldwide. Monika is co-founder of the BangkokAcroConvention and co-organizes the SwissAcroFest.

What is Acro Yoga?

Acro Yoga examples
Acro Yoga or Partner Yoga & Acrobatics combines the wisdom of yoga, the healing art of Thai yoga massage, and the dynamic power of acrobatics to create a unique foundation for a playful practice that fosters community, trust, and communication.

Acro Yoga consists of 3 main elements:

Solar Acrobatics:

  • Partner & Group Acrobatics
  • Strength Training
  • Flexibility
  • Community
  • Fun
  • Trust
  • Communication

Lunar Healing Arts:

  • Letting go & Relaxing
  • Thai Yoga Massage / Flying Bodyworks

Yoga Practice:

  • Warm-Up Hatha Flow Yoga
  • Partner Yoga Breathing & Movement in Harmony
Acro Yoga is a unique practice that combines yoga with acrobatics in a playful way. You learn to connect your body with your mind in order to master even challenging exercises with concentration, calm, serenity & joy. By practising in the community, you learn to trust yourself & others. To communicate with each other in a loving way, to laugh and to have fun with movement. You decide where your limits are and communicate your needs with others so that you can learn the art of flying, basing & spotting safely, freely and with ease.

What is aerial yoga?

Flying yoga examples
Aerial yoga (also known as flying yoga or similar) is a combination of traditional yoga and aerial acrobatics.
B.K.S. Iyengar already fixed rope constructions to walls in Iyengar Yoga and used them as a supportive aid. In aerial yoga, we use a soft, elastic and usually colourful yoga towel that hangs from the ceiling in a loop – similar to a hammock, where both ends are fixed at the same point. The yoga towel is 3 metres wide, making it particularly comfortable to stretch out in.
You can even adopt poses that you find difficult on the floor in a playful way. At the same time, your balance is trained because you have to compensate for the instability of the cloth in some exercises.

Aerial yoga is varied and combines ‘flying’ asanas with familiar yoga elements such as breathing and relaxation exercises.

Benefits and Effects of Aerial Yoga

Aerial Yoga is a full-body workout that enhances strength, balance, and flexibility—activating and stretching all muscle groups. With the support of the fabric, you can perform many Asanas more easily and intensively, making your training even more effective.

In particular, the core muscles must be continuously active. A nice side effect of regular practice: a flat, defined midsection.

In the suspended state, tensions in the neck, shoulder area, or back can also be relieved. Joints and the spine are unloaded.

Aerial Yoga is also fascia training. Thanks to the compression by the fabric, you always work on your fasciae. Your body is more highly blood-perfused, and organs are better supplied with nutrients.

Another comfort factor: You give your body weight to the fabric, can let go, and float through the air. Aerial Yoga allows you to experience your body in a whole new way.
